Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that leads to a decline in the brain's dopamine levels. Dopamine is a crucial neurotransmitter responsible for regulating muscle movement. The reduction of dopamine results in abnormal motor functions.

Key motor symptoms include :

  • Tremor
  • Rigidity
  • Bradykinesia
  • Hypokinesia
  • Postural instability
  • Freezing of gait

Non-motor symptoms include :

  • Constipation
  • REM sleep behavior disorder
  • Psychiatric symptoms such as depression, hallucinations, and obsessive-compulsive behaviors
  • Cognitive decline or dementia

These symptoms may vary in severity and progression from person to person, and both motor and non-motor symptoms significantly affect the quality of life in individuals with Parkinson's disease.
