Parkinson’s Disease Progression

Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder with a long course, typically lasting 10–20 years. It often begins with a prodromal phase marked by early warning signs before the disease becomes overt. The disorder affects multiple bodily systems, not only causing motor dysfunction but also non-motor symptoms such as sleep disturbances, autonomic nervous system problems, and cognitive impairments. The disease progresses gradually, becoming more severe over time.
